Damien Hirst

For art and fashion class today, Kary took us to the Gagosian Gallery at Central. The exhitibition of the moment is hosting Damien Hirst art pieces. At first, we all thought it would be boring since we saw some introduction of butterfly photos, but the trip turned out to be very insightful.

Damien Hirst 's theme this time is call "Forgotten Promises". All the his work surrounds the subject of life. The pieces are call "Pain", "Regret", "Tear of Joy","Tear of Sorrow", and so many more emotional titles along with artworks that required many thinking.

Here is Hirst with his interesting piece call Saint Bartholomew, made in Gold plated silver, seems like a satire of real thing. St B. here skinned himself alive while still holding the scalper up high and carrying his own skin like fur coat.

His hand made platinum skull head, full of white diamond. So realistic, i've notice most of his work is not balanced out perfectly, which i find awesome.
Overall my favorite piece is call "Cupid's Lie", it reminds me too much of Alexander McQueen. It's pure gold, it's un proportional skull, its darkness, i loved it!
I thought for a long time what did Cupid lie about? The skull here actually looks like its giggling.

Here is some photos of inspirations i got from today's exhibition. It might be a bit scary, i did scared myself and the maids.
This was my homework, my inspiration from the Cupid's Lie. My idea was death, but  a meaningful and beautiful way. Like McQueen, how far would you cross Death's last line?

Scared? Do i look like a fashionable skulllllady ?
